Amazing Matka Canyon in Macedonia 
Near Skopje, the capital of Macedonia, there is a picturesque Matka Canyon. Huge Treska River, which two storage reservoirs are made of, thus this place is called the Matka Lake.
We travelled not by the tour itinerary, i.e. from the other side. We drove through the mountain crossings and watched extraordinary views. We have already seen a bunch of mountain arrays: in Montenegro, Croatia, Albania, and other countries. But every land strikes us with its unique beauty. How many mountains would we have seen, we still freeze in order to plunge into contemplation of inspiration.
The road was very good. In some places it was scary because there is abyss in the bottom and a rock overhanging from the top. The reservoir is seen from here. But it is forbidden to get to it, since it’s the state strategic territory.
So we went in a different direction. We were traveling alone for the entire period and just at the end we met several cars.
The incredible beauty. Mountains’ form, green coating, and water wrapping the mountains like a snake.
You immediately fall in love with Macedonian nature. And this sun flag… 🙂
The space of outstanding beauty. It was impossible to come down closer to water. You can go for kayaking in the lake but on the other side, where tourists go. So would you be in Skopje, make sure you go to the Matka Lake – this place is worth your attention.
