Awesome La Palma island: What to see

Another capital of Santa Cruz, only this time not in Tenerife, but on La Palma. Santa Cruz de La Palma – is a small city with a historic part, with popular century-old balconies, there is also a small beach and a port, of course, were we landed from the island of La Gomera.

Compared with the previous island, there are large supermarkets, which is important for us; therefore, we decided to note that. The island of La Palma is actually less known than all the rest, since there are no cool beaches, no good winds for fans to ride on the waves, even the resorts have not developed well, and the existing number of beaches and lava pools will not be able to allocate the invasion of tourists. This island is for eco-tourists, for walks in the mountains between the volcano craters, among the pine trees, along the high edges of a giant crater in the Caldera de Taburiente Park and observations of the night sky – astro tourism.

We started our acquaintance with the capital from Mirador del Risco de La Concepción, whereto we went up the serpentines for several kilometers.

And then we walked in the old downtown. It’s quite nice and cozy here. Compared with the capitals Tenerife and Gran Canaria – it’s more beautiful here.

Many narrow and one-way streets. Old houses, some very ragged, and interesting door handles.

There is a street with colorful facades in Santa Cruz – the colors were chosen as bright as possible.

The most famous landmarks in Santa Cruz are unique and ancient balconies, which have been traditionally decorated by residents with lots of pots, which look like a Botanical Garden as a result.

There’s so much sun on the island – every day, and residents paint facades in bright hues as well – as a result they permanently live in vivacity)

Again the local bars. There are noise, emotions, laughter, emotional conversation in the hall. Barmen enjoy laying the dishes loudly; almost throw the cups and the plates on their places. It’s very vividly around. That’s the atmosphere in the common Canaries bars. There are no cozy and quiet cafés, except for sitting outdoors on the summer terrace, if there is no one smoking and speaking with a jug of beer)

Our most favorite dislocation for places like cafés is when the street is on all sides and large windows that open wide and a table is put there. Spacious, bright and lively.

As always a coffee drink – local Barakitos with liqueur, condensed milk and citrus fruit with cinnamon.

There is a popular mini resort in the north of the island with a pool on the beach, which was arranged on a hardened lava.

This is, so to speak, the restaurant with a terrace and a swimming pool. It can’t accommodate many people)

However, it’s a sad situation with beaches here, sharp lava is everywhere, which is uncomfortable to walk on. Therefore, they make such pools, if possible, like this one – Charco Azul.

There’s a very nice little zoo Moroparque on the island of La Palma. It differs from other zoos in that it is built on a hillside. Entrance is from the top, and you walk through cages and enclosures down the paths and stairs. You can see the ocean in the distance, and the precipice in the bottom and no one else. Very quiet and pleasant place. Only parrots and monkeys can sing loudly. There are many very rare animals and birds. They were brought from different corners of the world and protected forcibly.

We liked these cute and tiny creatures that fit on the palm)

They sheltered albino kangaroos in the zoo. They appeared to be very tiny. They live together with a parrot, which utters familiar words, such as Hola!

And some love parrots more) There are a variety of them here of different sizes and colors.

The zoo was combined with botanical garden in this place, and lizards are running all the time under your feet and in the bushes.

Pigs, sheep, chickens and other pets are also available.

They let you inside a closed enclosure to not dangerous animals and birds, otherwise you won’t even exit the zoo, so you should walk along the path in the cell. Among the dangerous animals, for example, there are monkeys with three fences from people.

We rarely visit such places, and for no good reason) Animals create such energy, give so much emotions)
