Vodno Mountain in Skopje is created for romance

City of Skopje is located at the foot of Vodno Mountain, on top of which there is a giant cross. Of course, you can get to the top. First by car and then in the booth (cable car). On the way to the booth you can look at the Macedonia capital from height and see everything spread out before you. The main buildings are located in the city center. Skopje is perhaps the smallest capital of the Balkans.

It is impossible to go by car to the very top because it is considered to be a green zone. We liked this place immediately owing to so pleasant atmosphere. Perfect infrastructure for recreation. A large parking lot, from which you get to the magnificent territory with areas for picnics at tables with a river between them, everything is green and clean. It is so quiet here.

Booth is very cheap (in comparison, of course) – 1 euro per adult – to and from 🙂 And there are a lot of booths, so we let the others sit into and got a booth only for two of us. We traveled 1600 m and went up by 500 m above the parking lot. Here one can go even with bicycle; it will be attached outside the booth.

By the way, while we were driving to the parking lot (it seemed 3-5 km up) we saw a lot of bicyclers. It’s popular to go up this mountain on a bike. Local people are fond of recreating here, taking sports and doing something else 🙂

And one more thing worth mentioning is advertising (in the booth) – we were shocked at advertising industry professionals’ fantasy.

Here actually is the Millennium Cross, 66m high. At night it is very well seen from the city owing to bright illumination. It seems there is a lift inside.

Surprisingly, there are no restaurants. Only small kiosk with Nescafe coffee and other chemicals.

Here are wooden arbors installed in the territory, some of them are just on the edge of the mountain.

It’s a very romantic place. You can have a picnic at sunset with the magnificent view.

We didn’t view the sunset at the very top because the booths close before it. But there are parking lots with benches at the bottom, where you can contemplate the Skopje landscape.

We are very pleased. Such a enjoyable calm after the bustle of the city.
