Each has its own official website with all the details, including: how to get to and how much it costs. Romanian castles are so popular that the prices are not cheap, if to consider the various additions, such as parking rate, etc. And the entry fees increase with the high season onset. However, there are still lots of those wishing to visit Romanian castles, since the architecture and environment are spectacular. So did we decide to see three of the most beautiful castles in Romania located in the magical Transylvania.

The first castle is Corvin’s Castle (Castelul Corvinilor), which is located in the south of Transylvania in the town of Hunedoara. Corvin Castle looks as though it is from a fabulous book about a kingdom. Entrance is only over a very long wooden bridge with a river running downsides.

Castle of fabulous beauty, although inside the visitors are shown torture rooms with manikins. And a festival of horrors is held here on Halloween.

We did not enter any of the castles, so we won’t demonstrate any pictures from there.

And near the Corvin’s Castle in villages there are such houses, there are lots of them here. Usually all of them are in purple shades and with silver roofs. Weird Chinese and gypsy architectural masterpieces.

The most known castle in the world and, of course, in Romania is Dracula’s Castle (Bran Castle). Although Dracula has never lived here but known writer Bram Stoker having written the book about Dracula made this place the legend. So everyone eager comes here to see how terrible Dracula lived, especially readers of the book. In fact, the area is very cozy, green, and romantic. Inside it has nothing to do with Dracula’s life. Nevertheless, it is considered to be the home of the vampire. Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to come closer because it’s open only till 6 pm and after that even entire park area is closed and it’s impossible to view anything closer. Bran Castle is 30 km from the medieval town Brasov, which is also very interesting for visiting.

The third castle we approached the closest is Peles Castle (Castelul Peleş). It’s located in Sinaia town and it’s close to Brasov (47 km).

This is not Gothic but Neorenaissance in conjunction with the German school. The castle is hidden in a forest, you won’t come close to it by car and parking rate is 5 times more expensive than in the center of Bucharest)) but in fact the amount actually is not exorbitant – 10 lei per hour (2.5 US dollars), which will cost more in more popular European countries.

You can walk freely around the area even take photos for free outside and on the large terrace. And entry inside is to be the paid for + separately for camera.

Since we don’t like to contemplate the interior and to queue for tickets, we certainly did not enter. It was enough for us to take a walk on the terrace. There were many people and supervisors just keeping an eye on those who can not read the request not to touch the ancient statues and not to walk on the lawn.

Castle location is simply gorgeous. The palace is hidden in the woods, but the terrace overlooks the green field. And it’s surrounded by majestic mountains from all sides.

castles-12

Many statues hang by a thread, so there are ongoing restoration works or passage to certain parts of the castle is simply closed.
