Art Museum of Nature and awesome mirador de Morro Velosa

Art Museum of Nature and awesome mirador de Morro VelosaWhat to see on Fuerteventura - Mirador Morro Velosa

Fuerteventura island was making a mash on us every day more and more. It’s probably the only mirador spot specially equipped for tourists and having a coffee shop and a museum on site here on the island. Located next to the oldest and most beautiful city of Betancuria. Mirador de Morro Velosa.

As usual, we wanted to visit the mirador at sunrise. But at the first visit we were awaited by: gate bar, day off, and heavy fog) Mirador is on top of the mountain, and the only way to it is closed by gate bar.

fue-73 fue-74 fue-75

It’s not a problem for us to get through the gate bar but the fog was so heavy that nothing was visible. Only clouds quickly crossing from the mountain to the valley, and then going up the mountain, as if fleeing from someone. Everything is so charming and so close to you that you feel as though the clouds are really alive.

fue-76 fue-77 fue-78 fue-79

We didn’t regret for a second that ran into such a fog of clouds, because we were entertained by its game.

fue-80

Foggy morning passed. And we drove further towards Betancuria. On the way we came across a small mossy water basin, which was barely seen between the mountains. However, due to thick greenery around it wast’s clear there’s water there.

fue-81 fue-82

At first we missed Betancuria town and went on to another one with name  Ajuy) Letter “j” in Spanish sounds like English “h”. So it turns out Ajuy. The way from Betancuria to Ajuy passes through the mountains and here we were again on serpentine road, which we wanted to forget after the La Gomera and La Palma. Although they’re quite feeble on Fuerteventura.

fue-83

Fuerteventura mountains are so unusual and somewhat erotic) Parts of the body can be seen on some photos ) Their surface is as though soft.

fue-84 fue-85

That’s Ajuy 🙂 A small fishing village with incredible beauty thereabout.

fue-86

Just a few houses and restaurants. But everyone comes here to walk through the rocks on the edge of the island. To go down into gigantic caves and look at the works of the natural beauty.

fue-87

The first pieces of nature’s art are the sandy curls. Like a big sandbox where wind and time have played. Incredibly beautiful!

fue-88

And contemplating minimalist landscapes from there.

fue-89 fue-90 fue-91

Cool and impressive. And this sand still stays, it isn’t washed away by constant waves and doesn’t fall into the abyss.

fue-92 fue-93

Another rock as if wants to eat the first person who sits on it)

fue-94

The next place is even more startling.

fue-95

Go down to the observation deck and watch as tons of water overflow from one natural capacity into another. This can really be seen forever. Giant waves impose the feeling of their gravity, fall over the stone fences along the entire length; excessive water flows out through the holes, and then all the same starts again.

fue-96

The scale, depth and power of water are felt.

fue-97 fue-98

From this lowest observation deck you can see different layers of the rocks you walk on.

fue-99 fue-100

It’s impressive and hypnotic here.

fue-101

We were here for long. And then we went to the next even more impressive exposition of this nature open museum.

fue-102

Giant caves! Earth’s big mouth!

fue-103 fue-104 fue-105

Giant stones lying at the entrance. It’s a bit frightening to go down.

fue-106 fue-107

The cave is far deep inside. But tourists have made a toilet from the dark corner (( Is it so hard to go back to Ajuy where there’re toilets on the beach and parking site.

fue-108

As in a movie! There are many caves here. You can get through the hole from the first cave into the neighboring one, giant as well. But all the rest have the only entrance – from the water.

fue-109

The path in this free natural museum looks like this.

fue-110

And you can reach to the other side along the path. There won’t be anything around; in the island center if we go forward – just rocks along the ocean with the abyss downside. Just the small Ajuy town is left behind both as all roads for cars.

fue-111

And we drove on. Stopped on the parking site to have a bite. And here a crow is knocking on the window. It is requesting food.

fue-112

And what were we to do? – shared our meals. However there’s a plate asking not to feed those birds and squirrels.

fue-113 fue-114 fue-115

Oh, those crows. Predators, large birds! And they eat with fork like babies. Everyone whom we treated liked our boiled rice 🙂

fue-116

Fuerteventura is unrealistically cool. Here is the photo well reflecting its essence.

fue-117

They say there’re more goats than people on this island. Since these animals survive in difficult conditions without water and greenery, they became useful here. And thus there’re many cheese dairies on the island.

fue-118

There are such pixy stools. If you press on their hats they become dented. So someone dented the mountains on this island.

fue-119 fue-120

There are farms growing aloe on Fuerteventura. They make and sell cosmetics. The residents were fortunate that this plant grows comfortably in the local conditions.

fue-121 fue-122

Aloe fields look beautiful.

fue-123

Mirador de Morro Velosa is located in the island center and we drove through it quite often. We came there during open hours for the second time. There were lots of tourists but they mostly were sitting on the terrace near the building entrance overlooking the parking site. There were even fewer people inside the facility with panoramic windows!?

fue-124

The coolest place is near the panoramic windows or the square one. Even outside where the outdoor terrace is located. As if a lively square picture of clouds flying slowly hangs on the wall.

fue-125

Well, that’s cool! You take barraquitos – another festive sugar dose for us) Sit at a neat table, drink your coffee, and admire the beauty.

fue-126

How beautiful it’s here! What is nice is that everything is free on Fuerteventura. This mirador is no exception. We would like to emphasize this having visited the next island of Lanzarote, where you have o pay for everything having limited access – but more on that further in articles. Now just the pleasure of beauty over such cool huge windows. We just fail to utter what a buzz is here!

fue-127

Oh, these dented serene mountains. Most marvelous mountains, even though there are no dense firs or other trees. These are just unreal.

fue-128

We want to hug these mountains!

fue-129 fue-130

The majority of tourists are hanging near the parking site:)

fue-131 fue-132 fue-133

Betancuria town very close to mirador. There’re just restaurants and souvenir shops in the centre, and more they are selling cosmetics from aloe here.

fue-134 fue-135

This city is one of the greenest with lots of palm trees!

fue-136 fue-137

And then we went back along the mountains, over the serpentine road to a place where you can see Cofete beach from which we have showed here. And now just take a closer look at the mountain peak over the water basin. That’s why many Fuerteventura mountains are erotic 🙂

fue-138

The highest point of Fuerteventura is about 800 meters. But the mountains are looking very wide and bulky.

fue-139 fue-140 fue-141

Fuerteventura mountains – you’re incredible!
